Onion Chopped Steak with Easy Gravy

1 lb. ground sirloin
1/2 cup plain fine dry bread crumbs
1/4 cup skim or lowfat milk
1/2 envelope dry onion soup mix
1 pkg au jus mix (brown gravy mix in an envelope)

Combine beef, bread crumbs, milk and dry onion soup mix in a 2-quart or larger bowl and mix thoroughly with your hands.

 

Shape meat into 4 patties 3 1/2 inches round and 1/2 inch thick.

Cook uncovered on the first side for 5 minutes. Turn patties over and cook for 5 more minutes uncovered.
 

Prepare au jus separately according to package directions.

 

Add au jus to patties and let meat simmer in the liquid  over low heat for 5 minutes covered. Add water to gravy as needed for the right consistency.

 

Serves 4
