Beer Butt Chicken

from NBteacher

3-4 pound whole chicken (If you get a larger chicken, it will not fit well on the beer can.)

1 12 oz. can of beer

Your choice of seasonings

Take the whole chicken and use some seasonings (your choice) over the entire skin of the chicken. I use some garlic powder, a little thyme, basil and onion powder.

Take a 12-oz. can of beer and pour half of the contents out (or it to make Beer Cake)

Take the butt end of the chicken and put it over the top of the half-full beer can.

Put a small piece of potato on the top of the chicken to keep
the moisture in.

Bake at 350F for 45 minutes.

Carefully remove the chicken from the beer can because the beer can and chicken are hot!

This chicken is very moist, browns quite nicely and you cannot taste any of the beer flavoring at all.

Notes from Editor: This works a treat cooked on a barbecue. You can also purchase beer butt chicken holders at various cookware stores. They make the bird more stable when it's upended. The chicken pictured is on one.
